Modernizing Process Controls

PLC Conversions

We convert “extinct” Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) to the manufacturer of your choice. We specialize in conversion to the Allen-Bradley (AB) CompactLogix or ControlLogix (Studio 5000) platform. Current hardware platforms include:

Our proprietary conversion utilities translate PLC programs in a fraction of the time it takes to do it by hand with no “typos!” We then do as much post cleanup as we possibly can.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. Give us a try. What have you got to lose? Give us a call or send us an email. We would love to discuss your project with you.

Smart Translation Technology is our unique software algorithm used to convert PLC code. We convert the actual binary code that the PLC executes. It’s not a search and replace script. The conversion may or may not be a one-to-one translation. We pre-scan the code looking for the best fit for instructions and addresses. In some cases we make multiple scans and even scan the code backwards to provide a perfect translation with minimal cleanup.

Rockwell Automation is still using them.

For the most part everything will convert or with additional logic will execute the same way, but in some cases there is no translation.

For example, the French word “Adieu” does not translate directly into English. You may say “last good-bye” or “I’ll see you with God” but the fact is, it doesn’t translate.

The same principle exists when converting one PLC platform to another. Some programming doesn’t translate and will require a human to examine the program, determine what the original programmer’s intent was, and make programming changes accordingly.

Rarely do we convert programs that don’t need additional cleanup when we are done. We don’t know your process. We don’t have your hardware or your networks. We will take the conversion and cleanup as far as we can.
